A 3.1 magnitude earthquake hit NJ

Early Wednesday morning, the good folks in New Jersey got a taste of what the good folks in California tend to go through.

The good news is that it was a mild one, 3.1 magnitude to be exact. So it caused nothing more than a little shaking like bacon from the rocks rattling and rolling. Nobody loss a house. Nobody loss a store. Nobody loss a finger. Everybody kept their homes, businesses, and limbs.

Some of y’all are wondering, “If this wasn’t a big deal, why did over 6400 people feel the need to report it on the Did You Feel That app?”

Welp, the simple answer to that is New Jersey doesn’t often get earthquakes. Since 2012, the state has had a total of four earthquakes ranging in magnitudes from 1.7 to 3.1.

In 2012, soon after Hurricane Sandy hit the state, a 2.0 magnitude was registered not too far from Ringwood, New Jersey. A 1.7 magnitude earthquake registered just southeast of Trenton, New Jersey, in 2014, and a 2.8 magnitude earthquake happened not too far from Bernardsville, New Jersey, in 2015.

The one that hit on Wednesday was a 3.1 magnitude that was pinged in East Freehold, New Jersey and felt beyond the Jersey Shore in Staten Island, New York, and Bucks County, Pennsylvania.

But like I said, “Everybody is ok.” Some wigs came off, finger nail polish hit the floor, and there were some flat screen TVs lost. All in all, everyone and some things are fine.

As a matter of fact, folks are so a okay that they took to Twitter to crack jokes about being “all shook up, mm-hmm.” Go ahead and take a gander, down below at the tweets.

Ha, that "tectonic plates" one was really funny! "A party at 2" in the morning. You can't call the po' po' on them!
